ZAZA CHURCH AND VOCATIONAL TRAINING SCHOOL

After a large crusade, the government of Rwanda (through the district
mayor) gave us a building to be used as a church and a vocational
training school. The government also gave us enough land for more
school buildings in the same plot and gave us additional land for farming.

The church in Zaza currently has over 350 members and, due to the
small building, we have opened a satellite church about 4 kilometers
away to accommodate another 100+ people from the overflow of the
growing church.

The tailoring school has a current enrollment of 40 students with three
teachers. The demand is much higher than this but we are unable to
accommodate any more students without an expansion of the facilities.

Our plan is to build a school that will be able to house students in
dormitories and allow us to expand our vocational training offerings. The
ultimate goal is to build 8 classrooms, 1 main hall which will also be used
as a church before building a bigger one, 1 office building, 1 kitchen plus
a dining hall for all students, 2 sets of bathrooms and toilets, 2 sets of
dormitories, 1 play ground, and a fence.

The vocational offerings and teaching at the school will include Tailoring,
Carpentry and Construction, Welding, English language, Modern farming
and kindergarten for young children who cannot get necessary
requirements to go to other schools.

KAMATE CHURCH AND PRIMARY SCHOOL

Kamate church began under a tree in October 2009 and the school
began shortly after in February 2010 under the same tree.

Kamate is a place that is far from main roads where government
schools, hospitals, and churches can be easily reached. The distance to
the nearest school is about 12 kilometers, making it impossible for
young children to make a daily trip to and from school. With this in
mind, the local government authorities requested that we begin a
primary school. Today we have 500 students in “Kamate Parent School”
grades P-5 with seven teachers.

Harsh sun conditions in dry seasons and incessant rain in wet seasons
made it necessary to build a temporary shelter using plastic tarps laid
over mud and stick walls; providing a place where children can gather for
school when it rains and can be used as a church on Sundays.

Today Kamate church has more than 100 members with a fulltime
pastor to help them.

With the growth in the church and school it is no longer feasible to
accommodate everyone in the small plastic roofed shelter. We have
nearly finished a building project that includes 7 classrooms to
accommodate each grade in the primary school and a small office.

MALAWI
Bishop Charles Mthunya

Malawi is arguably the most underdeveloped country in all of sub-
Saharan Africa. The average Malawian will earn only $257 per year. And
with an adult literacy rate of 50%, an HIV/AIDS rate of 14%, and an
infant mortality rate of 18% there is a great need for long term
development in this beautiful country.

We have a great partner in Pastor Charles Mthunya.

In September, 2010, our mission team planted a new church work in the
Kameza Village in Blantyre. This new work will include a new church,  a
primary school that reaches out to orphaned and needy children and an
orphanage as an extension of the pastor’s home. We are putting the
finishing touches on the building project and will begin school in the
building as soon as we are able.

The goal of Hearts For The World International is to help
individuals, churches, schools and villages become self-sustaining,
and not reliant on us in the long term.  In these developing
countries there are many developmental and economic problems.
Education and vocational training opportunities are limited for
children and adults, due to lack of resources, and financial
stability. Your involvement can help us bring the needed
