Evangelical Church
of Good News in Rwanda
Evangelical Church of Good News in Rwanda
translated from French (Eglise Evangelique de la bon nouvel au Rwanda)

Legally accepted by the laws of Rwanda as a registered Church with the objective of preaching the good news of Jesus Christ to people in
Rwanda and else where.

EENR started operating in Rwanda shortly before the 1994 war and genocide. Like any other activities that were operating in Rwanda; it stopped
its activities in 1994, then began its activities immediately after the 1994 genocide. The church began evangelizing in two different places in
Kigali, namely Kimisagara and Kanombe. The small congregation met in one room of the Pastor’s rented house and the church began to grow.

In 1996, as the fledgling church increased,  the members in Kanombe church managed to buy a small house and started meeting in a large room
of the house. As the church continued to grow walls between rooms were removed until the whole house became one room that could easily
accommodate the growing the number of Christians.

By the year 2000, a number of people started getting jobs in town and decided to put together some money and buy a piece of land because the
house where they were meeting did not have enough land for expansion. By 2002 enough funds had been raised to buy a large plot of land
(approximately 100 X 50 meters) and building plans began. Church members started meeting one weekend per month to clear the bushes and
dig in order to begin leveling part of the land for building.

Before the end of the year 2002, members had contributed enough money to make bricks for the building. As the number of bricks increased
church members decided to start using them to build as a way of protecting the bricks or being stolen.

In five years this hard working group of dedicated Christians have gone as far as their funds will allow. However, their vision and hope has not
been stifled by lack of funds. They meet in their open air structure and are believing God to provide a roof and finish the contruction that has
begun. During the heavy rainy seasons it is very difficult to meet in a structure with no roof. During the hot months the blistering sun beats down but
hasn't snuffed out their hope.

The dream and vision of this pastor and congregation is for a church that hosts crusades to reach the surrounding area in Kanombe and Kigali.
They also have a goal to build a school to provide precious education that is so difficult to acquire in many developing countries.

If God is dealing with you and you are willing to help these heroes of the faith realize their dreams of
reaching lost people in Jesus' name, please
contact us. YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
September 2006 we traveled to Rwanda where we met Stephen Muhwezi, a supervisor in the Compassion International Field Office in Kigali.
We felt a kindred spirit with him and recognized that he is a man of integrity and honor. He told us of his "small" church where he serves as a
deacon and his desire to see his church grow and realize all of God's potential. Upon returning to the U.S., we felt a constant "nudge" to pray for
him and the work God is doing in that little congregation.

God opened the door for us to return to Rwanda in July 2007 and Stephen was our translator for part of our visit.  We are so excited to have the
opportunity to get to know him better and see the Holy Spirit at work in him and the church.

We told Stephen that it was in our hearts to see what we may be able to do to partner with his church and asked him if we could see where the
church met. As we were on our way we saw the church pastor walking down the road. Stephen was surprised to see him because Pastor
Nkomeza Eliazard was supposed to be in Burundi and not return until the next day. When asked why he returned early, Pastor Nkomeza said
that the Lord spoke to him in prayer that he needed to return to Rwanda because God had sent people to help him. And there we were…

We ask you to read the brief history (below) about the Evangelical Church of Good News in Rwanda and prayerfully consider how you can
partner with this tremendous work God is doing in Rwanda.
