Chosen Generation Fellowship Centre Update from February 2009 Outreach and Crusade
|
OUTREACH and CRUSADE - February 2009
I have never seen anything like what I saw in Rwanda this year. I arrived late on Monday night, February 9th , and stayed in Kigali with
Stephen Muhwezi and his family. Tuesday we picked up several other people and headed out into the "bush" to a very remote
place called Zaza. This is the place where we believe God wanted us to start a school and a church. (See the article on Chosen
Generation Fellowship Center – The Beginning)
The church was started last year (May 2008) and already has about 100 members.
Our plan for this week was to do outreach each morning, evangelizing and passing out mosquito nets and then do crusade services in
the afternoon/evening. That is exactly what we did.
Zaza is place that has been bound up in witchcraft and sorcery for hundreds of years and no evangelists have ever ventured out
there for fear of the witch doctors. However, what WE found in Zaza were villages filled with people who were hungry to hear about
something that could change their lives.
The first day of the crusade (Monday before I arrived) 5 people gave their lives to Christ during outreaches and 11 more at the
crusade service. We were very excited to hear about God moving and touching lives already. However, when I arrived on Tuesday
and began to preach people came from everywhere (to see the Mzungu [white person]). They just kept showing up. We had a small
area set up for the services and we had over 700 people show up that night. When I gave the call for salvation 120 people came
forward. It was overwhelming. I stood there with tears streaming down my face as I watched this awesome move of God. People
began to sing and dance for joy.
The rest of the week just got bigger and better. 260 people came forward to receive Jesus on Wednesday night. Thursday we had
services combined with a meeting with the government officials. The government gave us 65 acres of land and a building to start a
vocational training school and another church. The mayor of the district thanked us for being different than any other Christians
they had ever seen and encouraged the people in the area to turn from their witchcraft and begin following this Jesus we were
preaching.
We baptized 60 people on Saturday morning and then Saturday night at the crusade, another 200 people came forward to receive
Jesus. During the week we had several people come to us, kneel down and asked how they could be saved. We sawed over 50
people each day commit their lives to Christ as we walked through villages from home to home.
At one home, we prayed for a women who had a broken leg and couldn't walk. That night she showed up at the crusade (after
walking 3 miles). She was completely healed. Another woman brought her baby to us and asked for prayer. The family said the
baby had been sick for a very long time and they thought she was going to die. We prayed for the baby and God completely healed
her. She got up and started running around playing with other small children.
I felt like I was walking in the pages of the New Testament for 2 weeks. Hebrews 13:8 "Jesus Christ is the same
yesterday, today and forever."
Thanks for all your prayers, support and friendship. We are planning another crusade later this year. Anyone
interested in coming along to see what God is doing in Rwanda?
By the way...do you know how many people fit into a Toyota RAV4? The answer is twelve, 11 Rwandans and 1 big
American.
